Crown Heights Music School is a local, independently owned, family run business.
Located in the heart of Brooklyn, Crown Heights Music School first opened its doors in 2020 with a commitment to inspire our community through the highest quality music education. Operated by professional musicians and teachers, we built the school around the belief that musical passion and advancement thrives within a vibrant community, through diverse exposure and interaction.
Private Lessons &
Our Studio
At CHMS we don’t use an over-arching curriculum, instead we curate personalized lessons for each student. Our lessons are designed and tailored to the individual characteristics and learning styles of each student, and according to their goals and expectations.
Individual instruction (private lessons) allows students to progress at their own pace. Our teachers prepare a well-rounded curriculum, which incorporates music reading skills, rhythm practice, appropriate technique development, understanding of the theory of music and improvement of oral skills, songwriting, exposure to various music styles and repertoire. Establishing a practicing routine at home is though vital to the progress and success rate of every student.
Whether you're totally new to the instrument or you've been playing your whole life (or somewhere in between), we are here to make music with you. Don’t worry about your skill level or age, we are happy to help!
Meet Co-Founders Max & Sasha
Sasha and Max's journey began at Berklee College of Music, where their passion for music, performing and education ignited. From performing at renowned festivals and theaters to conducting educational workshops worldwide, their collaborative spirit has driven them from the start!
As professional touring musicians that have the privilege of performing and joining others communities all over the country, they realized they were missing that community in their own home. Sasha and Max decided to open Crown Heights Music School with the shared mission of connecting and expanding their own community by cultivating a love for music within their favorite neighborhood!
Together this dynamic husband-and-wife team have developed a comprehensive music program that includes private instrumental instruction for most instruments and voice, music theory instruction, ensemble classes, and (COMING SOON) an energetic early-childhood music-and-movement class.
Since March 2020, they've embraced a new role as United States Diplomats for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and the Association of American Voices. Sasha and Max's relentless pursuit of cultural exchange continues to fuel their artistic endeavors, enriching lives and transcending borders through the universal language of music.
